The Allegan Area Educational Service Agency Board of Education is pleased to announce Mark Dobias, currently Fennville Public Schools Superintendent, as their selection for the new superintendent of the AAESA. After a second interview on Monday, October 29, 2007, the board voted unanimously to select Mark as their new educational leader contingent on successful contract negotiations the week of November 5, 2007. ““The most important job of any Board of Education is to select a superintendent to lead the district”, commented Phyllis Drozd, AAESA Board President. “The AAESA Board of Education took this charge seriously, and we were committed to fully evaluating all candidates to insure we selected the best person for our organization.” “We are pleased to have selected Mark Dobias as our candidate of choice”, added Drozd.
Dobias, currently Fennville Public Schools Superintendent, comes highly qualified for his new responsibilities of leading the AAESA. He has a BS Degree in Education and a MA in Educational Administration from Central Michigan University, and has many additional hours of post-graduate credits. He has been both a Special Education Teacher and Director, an elementary principal for Hart Public Schools and a middle school principal for Mason County Central District. “I am thrilled and honored to have this opportunity”, shared Dobias. “I am looking forward to collaborating with the AAESA and the local boards of education, area superintendents, and staff to provide outstanding services for all students.” Dobias went on the share his pride in what has been accomplished by the Fennville Board of Education and staff over the past several years, and that he was grateful for the opportunity to serve and be part of a district and community that values its children so much. The role and mission of the AAESA has grown since conception as the Allegan County Intermediate School District. The expanded mission includes the responsibility for providing visionary leadership and quality educational services to strengthen teaching and learning of all citizens in partnership with the school districts and schools that the agency serves. The AAESA currently serves the districts of Allegan, Fennville, Glenn, Hopkins, Martin, Otsego, Plainwell and Wayland, and Discovery and Outlook Charter Schools, along with all of the homeschoolers and non-public schools located in these identified districts. |
