Staff Pledge to United Way and Become Free Gas Winners

The 2007 Allegan County United Way Campaign became a fun competition between the Allegan County Employees and the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency (AAESA) Employees.

Along with bragging rights of the two administrators, at stake were three $100 gift certificates for free gas donated by an anonymous donor. Every staff member who pledged to the United Way Campaign became eligible for the $100 Free Gas Drawing if their department won. For each organization, the drawing for the gift card was won by the department with the highest average pledge per those that pledged. All of those employees who pledged to the United Way in the winning department were eligible to have their names in the drawing.

Both the Health Department and Allegan County Transportation Department were the winning Allegan County Departments. The winning employee of the gas card was Jamie Dentler, an Environmental Health Registered Sanitarian.

The AAESA also had a tie with two department winners, Hillside Learning & Behavior Center - West and Michigan Works/Information Technology Department. The winning employees of gas cards were Holly Krosschell , Recreational Therapist for Hillside, and Margo Kollen, Technology Services Coordinator.

The County employees increased their pledge amount by 67% and donated over $10,000 to the United Way. The AAESA employees increased their United Way donation to over $13,500. “Competition makes giving fun”, said Mimi Gabriel, Allegan County United Way executive Director. “I really do appreciate the hard work of the campaign coordinators and the individual staff members from both organizations who pledged to the United Way.”

Mimi added that she was looking forward to more Allegan County companies and organizations joining in and participating in fun campaign competition events and activities for the 2008 campaign.
