Allegan Tech. Students Launch ACATEC Auto Sales/Sales Business PDF Print E-mail

The Allegan County Area Technical & Educational Center (ACATEC)  Auto Sales/Sales Business will  "open for business"  on March 17th 2008. The ACATEC Auto Sales/Sales business will have two student managers and student sales people and will be selling used cars that have been repaired and detailed by both ACATEC and Hillside students. Further, other student built projects from both the Construction Technology and Welding Classes will also be for sale.

The mission of the Technical  Education Center is to prepare today’s students to be successful in the workforce of tomorrow. The Auto Sales Center is a great opportunity to prepare students for careers in sales and management. The money earned from all sales will support ACATEC student programs.

"This new and real world experience will give students a chance to get involved and also realize the benefits of their work", shares Jon Gates ACATEC Sales Facilitator.

Mr. Findling’s and Ms. Johannas’s Construction Technology classes, are building playhouses and storage sheds. These small buildings will be sold at the ACATEC Auto Sales/ Sales business, located on M-222 across from Allegan Airport.  Students in each of the construction classes work in groups of four to build these sheds and playhouses.  Mr. Findling’s class is currently in the process of building two playhouses and two storage sheds and Ms. Johannas’s class is in the process of building two playhouses.

The ACATEC Auto Technology classes will make sure the cars are safe and in good running order before they are offered to the public.

This student experience also is a collaborative project with the Hillside Behaviorial Learning Center, in cooperation with the Building and Grounds Plus class from the ACATEC. Supervised by the Building and Grounds students, the Hillside Learning Center students will make sure the cars are clean and ready for the road.

In April, once the auto sales center is up and running smoothly, a planned ribbon-cutting Community Grand Opening Celebration wih a press conference is being planned.
