AAESA Significantly Increases United Way Campaign Pledges PDF Print E-mail
Mark Dobias, Allegan Area Education Service Agency (AAESA) Superintendent, was pleased to announce that the 2009 AAESA United Way Campaign pledges were over $17,079.00. This was an increase of almost 20% over last year’s contributions and an increase of over 64% in individual staff participation.

Included in the AAESA Campaign were incentives for the staff to contribute, including two raffles, one for a night’s stay at the Grand Rapids Marriott and the second, half of a pig, custom butchered and wrapped.

“We are extremely grateful that the JS Marriott provided the AAESA with this generous incentive”, stated Dobias.  “And we are so happy that our staff has stepped up to shatter the previous record of employee contributions to United Way by over 18%.” Congratulations go out to all of the individual AAESA staff winners, including Stephanie Laird, Hillside West Youth Adult Program Teacher, whose name was drawn at random from all of the staff pledges and won the night at the Grand Rapids Marriott. The half of a pig was won buy the “five little pigs team” of Carl Ill, Tracy Clawson, Midge Stamas, Stephanie Bush, Amy McMann. They pooled their money together to purchase multiple tickets and share the “spoils”.

“This is an excellent example of what happens when the leadership of an organization supports what they believe in,” stated Mimi Gabriel, United Way Executive Director. “We are very thankful for and could not achieve our goal without leaders like Mark, the AAESA Staff, and all the other county companies and organizations that understand the importance of the United Way to the welfare of our county and our residents in need.”

In the superintendent’s congratulations email to the AAESA staff, Mark finished with, “Thank you.  You are all my heroes!”
