Information Technology and Media Services
 
Mission: “To provide technical solutions that support the functions of the AAESA and which promote literacy and life long learning among citizens in Allegan County Schools and communities.”


The Information Technology and Media Unit provides all hardware and software related technology services for the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency Including:

  • Networking
  • Workstation Support
  • Email
  • Telephone and Cell Phone Services
  • Licensing
  • Technology Purchasing
  • Data Management

The Information Technology and Media Unit also provides wide area network services to local school districts, coordinates with local district technology representatives and assists local districts with technology plans, state reporting and a variety of other technology related issues.

Data Management Services provides Allegan County School Districts with recommendations and support for technology solutions for the management and delivery of districts education data, such as MEAP, SRSD, DIBELS, Grade book data, IEP data and Common Assessment data.

Major Projects that the Data Management Group is currently working on:
  • The implementation and rollout of Pinnacle Plus in several districts simultaneously
  • The implementation and rollout of the District Data Analyzer (DDA) throughout the county.
  • The implementation of Examview for county wide 11th and 12th grade teachers.
  • The implementation of the Online IEP for special education staff.

Image As the needs to report information to parents and government officials continue to increase all schools need the ability to draw useful, accurate, and timely conclusions from their data.   The District Data Analyzer (DDA) uses cutting-edge analytics technology to bring together disparate data sources – providing a fully integrated, customized tool for analyzing and reporting student, classroom and district-wide data at the school, district and state levels. Using DDA, educators can quickly and easily examine and distribute student information to see a clear, broad picture of a class, school or district.

Online Learning with Moodle PDF Print E-mail
Allegan Area Educational Service Agency Online Learning (AAESAOLL) is a web portal powered by Moodle.  The AAESA uses this site to conduct and support professional development and meet the needs of our local districts.  Moodle is a free, Open Source course management system (CMS) designed to help educators create effective online learning communities.  Moodle can help educators create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. Its open source license and modular design means that many people can develop additional functionality.

Online IEP Portal PDF Print E-mail

An Individualized Education Program is the written description of an appropriate instructional program for a student with special needs. The use of an IEP in the classroom is made up of seven steps to be followed, these are: pre-referral, referral, evaluation, eligibility, development of an IEP, implementation of an IEP, and an annual review.  The Allegan Area Educational Service Agency has created an online IEP portal to aid local districts in the creation and management of student IEPs.

Pinnacle Plus is a standards based assessment management system that has been instrumental in raising student achievement by providing parents and educators instant access to student progress information, increasing classroom productivity, and improving home-to-school communication. Pinnacle Plus is a multi-platform client/server application designed to help teachers and administrators answer the state’s growing demands for higher standards and accountability.

ExamView Assessment Suite PDF Print E-mail
ExamView is a test-creation tool designed for Education.  It provides a common assessment framework and delivery flexibility. The ExamView Assessment Suite is a complete toolset in three seamless applications. Build comprehensive tests with Test Generator, administer tests with Test Player, and analyze results with Test Manager.  The Allegan Area Educational Service Agency has licensed ExamView and the Learning Series Test Banks for all local school district students in grades 11 and 12.  The Learning Series Test Banks for Michigan are a set of assessment items that are aligned with the Michigan Standards and Benchmarks. Grades 3 – 8 are aligned with the Michigan GLCE’s.
 
Tech Tip
Always remember, when dealing with electronics and computers the majority of problems can be solved simply. Many computer problems can be solved by a simple reboot.
