What makes you passionate about education?  Why do you serve?
Education is a wonderful and complex process.  It begins at birth and lasts a lifetime.  We start in the nursery, progress through years of formal schooling and then, we must continue to grow as we start our jobs and careers.  Our parents, teachers, and schools are most significant in imparting the skills, knowledge and information we need to fulfill our lives.  Very few learn on their own.  Those of us who have found our lives wonderfully affected by outstanding teachers and schools know that we must pass this on to all children in the generations that follow us.  I know all of us can do this as parents and as mentors.  Some of us with special gifts can become teachers and experience the joy cultivating the minds of many more young people.  My passion is to do all I can to help teachers have the resources they need to be the best they can be.  Serving on the AAESA Board brings the opportunity to advise administrators, and thru them help to continually improve the environment in which our teachers work.  This fulfills my passion, and hopefully results in a vital, active, employable and educated community in this county.
What does the AAESA vision statement, "Your partner in transforming lives through education, leadership and service" mean to you?
Our mission statement is straightforward and to the point.  It defines a continuum.  Research continually shows that education is strongly linked with to economic success.  With economic success the material aspects  of quality of life improve.  Sociologists have also found that education brings personal satisfaction and greater self esteem.  These factors certainly improve the quality of a family's life.  This knowledge points out that I can improve the quality of life in our county by being dedicated to making our schools, teachers and mentors the best that they can be.
