The 2nd Cohort of students from Early College Allegan County (ECAC) participated in the Lake Michigan College commencement ceremony on in South Haven on May 5. After commencement, the ECAC had their own private Pinning Ceremony with family, friends, administrators, and faculty in the Hanson Theater.
Linda Blankenship, Allegan County Technical and Education Center Director explained, "We partner with Lake Michigan College and our local districts to provide students the opportunity to take college classes right here in Allegan County at no cost to them."
"It was an exciting weekend," said ECAC Dean Yvette Houser. "The joy of completing either their Associates or Pre-Apprentice Certificate was evident. Just as evident is the bond these students share after spending the last three years supporting each other through this endeavor. They are equipped to continue their education or directly enter the workforce."
Twenty two students, representing Allegan, Fennville, Hopkins, Martin, Otsego, and Plainwell took part in the commencement ceremony. On the Friday before commencement, the students participated in rehearsal and afterwards were treated to Sherman's Ice Cream in South Haven by the ECAC faculty.
