Wayland Union Middle School students learned about the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol and vaping in the Above the Influence campaign held the week of March 29. School counselor, Shelby Van Kuiken, organized the events. During Pride Time, students watched a video about how brain development in teens and young adults is altered by the use of drugs and alcohol. They also watched different ads on vaping and then had to rate which ones were most effective. During lunch, students could pick up promotional items at a swag table that were donated by Allegan County Community Mental Health. Special thanks to Heidi Denton from Allegan County Community Mental Health for helping with the event. Follow the link to learn more about Above the Influence.
