Cloudy skies couldn’t keep the runners and walkers away this past Saturday. The 7th Annual Fit for Life 5K Run/Walk featured a record setting numbers of participants. 418 adults and children lined up at the Allegan Tech Center the morning of May 20 for the five kilometer (3.1 miles) event. The Run/Walk is sponsored by the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency’s Wellness Committee.
“Allegan Public Schools had a district-wide elementary running group called Tigers In Motion,” said event organizer Erika Kavanagh. “That’s why there were so many kids this year.” Allegan also won the Fit for Life Challenge as the local school district having the most participation. The award came with a check for $1,000.
The overall winner in the men’s division was Nate Passorelli. The women’s winner was Michelle Ostling. Nate and Michelle were both representing Allegan.
