The Allegan Area Educational Service Agency (AAESA) Board of Education has reconfirmed the agency’s commitment to literacy. The AAESA Board recently passed a resolution in support of participating in the Literacy Essentials Collaboration. This initiative has been spearheaded by the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Districts (MAISA) and recognizes the importance of literacy achievement for every child in the state.
The resolution sets reading proficiency goals and sets forth intervention strategies for students who take longer to achieve the goals. The resolution further states that all children deserve educational opportunities that allow them to compete on a national and international basis.
“This is an excellent step in the right direction,” said AAESA Superintendent William Brown. “Here at AAESA we have always been about doing what’s right for the students and communities we serve. This show of support from the Board and MAISA will have a positive impact on the citizens of Allegan County.”
