Students working on iPads

Did you know, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, careers in computer science will increase by 21% over the next 5-10 years? This is much faster growth than many other career areas. Students in Mrs. Terrell's media classes at Pine Street Elementary had the opportunity to engage in work around coding using an iPad app called Swift Playgrounds. Mrs. Terrell was joined by Mr. Mattis, Technology Teacher Consultant, to teach students how to code and practice coding on their own using the iPad app. In addition to the actual skills students learn in the actual process of writing and executing coding, learning how to code teaches skills for problem-solving and critical thinking, skills that are essential in all career paths!.
