“My journey to becoming an Interventionist started in an ABA clinic, where I discovered how much I loved working with kids. I enjoyed helping students build independence, strengthen social skills, and prepare for their transition into the school environment. During my time there, I earned my RBT certification, which helped deepen my understanding of student support and behavioral intervention. When I saw the posting for the Interventionist role at AESA, I immediately felt drawn to it because it gave me the opportunity to work on the other side of the transition process. Instead of just helping students get ready for school, I could actually help them become successful within the school system itself.

My role as an Interventionist is a mix of many different things. At the core, I work directly with students to help them succeed within their school districts. I also work closely with staff members to help implement strategies and supports that are working for those students. It’s rewarding to see how collaboration and consistency can make such a positive impact.

What excites me most about my job is being able to help bring a more inclusive mindset to local districts. As a graduate of Allegan, it’s especially meaningful to come back and be part of that growth. Watching schools continue to become more inclusive and supportive for all students has been amazing to experience, and I’m excited to see how they continue to grow.

The part I love most about working with students is seeing them learn, grow, and become successful. Every student is different, and being able to support them as they build confidence and skills is incredibly rewarding.

The students are truly what motivate me to come to work each day. Knowing that I’m helping students, supporting districts, and making a difference one small step at a time gives purpose to the work I do.

If you are looking for a role where you can continue working with kids while also growing professionally, becoming a Student Interventionist at Allegan Area ESA is a perfect fit. The culture here is welcoming, supportive, and focused on growth for both students and staff.”
