"The path to becoming a Student Interventionist started for me while I was in college when I was recruited to work at a local autism center as a Behavioral Technician. I later earned my Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) credentials. I spent four years providing 1:1 services to children before applying for this position and transitioning from a center-based program to working directly within schools.

I enjoy what I do because every day is different and I know I’m making a difference in the lives of the students I work with. I love being able to help students become more independent, learn new skills, and achieve goals they may have struggled with before. Watching that growth happen is one of the best parts of the job.

My role as a Student Interventionist changes based on the needs of the students I support. Some days I am working 1:1 with a student, modeling strategies for staff, and other days I am coaching staff members and helping teams problem solve. Every day looks a little different, which keeps the job exciting and rewarding.

I come to work each day knowing that the support I provide can make a lasting impact on students and their success. Even small steps forward can make a huge difference for students and their families.

I think others would enjoy being a Student Interventionist at Allegan Area ESA because the team is supportive and always focused on the same goal: supporting students and helping them succeed. It’s a welcoming environment where team members are encouraged to grow and develop."
